Hilda Solis is and has been a staunch supporter of animal welfare. Her legislative records include co-sponsorship of the Horse Slaughter Prohibition Bill which would prohibit the killing of equines for human consumption (H.R. 503).
Solis is proud of the 100% ratings that she consistently received from the Animal Welfare Institute during her congressional tenure and has been recognized by the Humane Society for supporting legislation that protect animals.
In addition, she has helped create the Emerald Necklace of parks and open space along the San Gabriel and Rio Hondo Rivers in El Monte, Azusa, West Covina, and surrounding cities, which offers the community a healthier environment and trails where residents can walk their dogs and ride horses."
