Housing

Hilda Solis is committed towards creating and preserving affordable housing for all residents in innovative and sustainable ways. These are just a few examples.

Addressing Barriers to Build Accessory Dwelling Units
Hilda Solis authored a motion that would seek to explore options to expedite the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADU) by creating pre-approved template building plans free of charge to our community. ADUs are one option to increase the supply of housing in communities that are primarily zoned for single-family homes or have little to no vacant land.

Increasing Permanent Housing
Hilda Solis authored a motion which created the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP). This program is a supportive housing rental subsidy program managed by the Department of Health Services that provides ongoing financial assistance and housing retention support to ensure long term stability for individuals who have experienced homelessness.

Enhancing the Los Angeles Rent Relief Program
and Eviction Moratorium
Hilda Solis authored a motion to enhance the County’s Rent Relief Program and provide flexibility to tenants. The motion directed the County to make any necessary program changes to the Rent Relief Program to ensure maximum flexibility to stabilize eligible tenant households in need.

Permanent supportive housing project in Claremont

Hilda Solis fought to bring a one-time allocation of funds to support the Baseline Claremont Senior Permanent Supportive Housing project in Claremont. When completed in 2022, this housing project will feature 15 units with seven units set aside for permanent supportive housing for senior citizens, and the remaining units will be general affordable units for older adults with incomes 60 percent below the area median income.

330 Affordable housing units coming to the First District
Hilda Solis advocated to bring affordable housing projects throughout the first district. These developments will provide 330 affordable housing units in 3rd and Dangler in East Los Angeles, the affordability preservation of Casa Bonita Senior Apartments in Huntington Park, the new La Veranda housing project in the City of Los Angeles, and the affordability preservation of Sunny Gardens Apartments in La Puente.
