Hilda Solis Meets with Local Seniors

Throughout this campaign I have met with seniors from across District 1

Throughout this campaign, I have visited senior centers across the 1st District to learn more about what LA County seniors want when it comes to effective County government and services. I met with seniors in the following communities: Monterey Park, El Sereno, Highland Park, Montebello, Glassell Park, Montecito Heights, Lincoln Heights, South El Monte, and Azusa.

It is important for me to sit down and hear from local seniors because there are many County services our seniors access everyday. As I look at ways to improve District 1, I welcome their input and ideas! Working to ensure their voices are heard in LA County government is one of my top priorities.

Currently, many LA County seniors participate in the Community and Senior Services Programs, such as in-home meal delivery and adult protective services. The Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults (LACCOA) is just one example of how the County serves seniors.  This commission is focused on advocating for the needs and welfare of LA County seniors. Additionally, this commission is tasked with assisting the County with preparing for the expected increase in the senior population.

I know LA County seniors make tremendous contributions to our communities.  After spending this past week meeting with our local seniors, I know I can be a strong advocate for them when it comes to delivering LA County services.
