Supervisor Solis was named chair of the Metro board during the 2021 State of the Agency event making this the first time in history that both the CEO and the Chair of Metro are both women. Solis took this opportunity to lay out her priorities and goals as chair, which included more affordable housing near transit lines to prevent low-income displacement. Solis said that Metro will be acquiring additional properties over the next few years for construction staging, new stations, parking lots, and maintenance facilities. Solis’ other goals include expanding transit service, especially for buses that service low-income riders, returning service to pre-pandemic levels, and making service faster, more frequent, and more reliable.
